Consumer Health Data Policy

Effective Date: 7/22/2026
Last Updated: 7/22/2026
Version: 2026-07-22

This Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy describes how Because Love, LLC (“Because Love,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares consumer health data in connection with the Because Love mobile application and related services (the “Services”), and the rights available to you. It applies to consumers whose consumer health data is collected in Washington and to residents of other states with comparable consumer health data laws, including Nevada and Connecticut.

Consumer health data” means personal information that is linked or reasonably linkable to you and that identifies your past, present, or future physical or mental health status, as defined by the Washington My Health My Data Act, RCW 19.373, and comparable laws.

1. What Consumer Health Data We Collect

We design the Services to minimize the collection of health information. We do not ask about medical conditions, diagnoses, symptoms, or treatments. The categories of consumer health data we may nonetheless collect are:

(a) Voluntarily submitted content. Journal entries, affirmations, prompts, group messages, wins, gratitudes, short videos, and other content you choose to submit or publish may — at your sole election — contain information about your physical or mental health, emotional state, or related circumstances. We do not request this information; you control what you write, record, and choose to share.

(b) Wellness-related preferences. Onboarding and personalization selections describing goals or aspirations (for example, “Calm” or “Vitality”). These describe what you want more of, not any health condition; to the extent such a selection is deemed consumer health data under applicable law, it is covered by this Policy.

(c) Derived data. Personalization performed by the Services (for example, selecting affirmations matching your chosen aspirations), to the extent an inference derived from your selections constitutes consumer health data under applicable law.

We do not collect: biometric data for identification purposes (photographs for image-generation features are addressed in Section 16 (Biometric Data) of our Privacy Policy); precise location; reproductive or sexual health data as a category of intentional collection; gender-affirming care information as a category of intentional collection; or health data from third-party sources, data brokers, or advertising networks.

2. Sources

Consumer health data comes from one source: you, through content and selections you submit in the App. We do not obtain consumer health data from third parties.

3. Why We Collect and Use It

We collect and use consumer health data solely to:

  1. provide the features you request — storing and syncing your journal, generating and displaying personalized affirmations and imagery, and operating groups you join;
  2. secure the Services and prevent fraud and abuse; and
  3. comply with legal obligations.

We do not use consumer health data for advertising, marketing, profiling for advertising purposes, or inference beyond the personalization you request. Consumer health data is excluded from our product analytics: analytics events never contain journal text, prompts, onboarding selections, or any content described in Section 1.

Basis for collection. We collect and use consumer health data with your consent, or to the extent necessary to provide a product or service you have requested. Before enabling journal sync, we ask for your affirmative consent, acknowledging that entries you write may include health-related information and will be stored on our servers to provide the feature. Other processing described in this Section — personalizing content in response to selections you make — is performed as necessary to deliver the features you request. You may withdraw consent as described in Section 6.

4. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not share consumer health data with third parties, and we do not sell consumer health data. We have never sold consumer health data, and we will not do so without the separate, signed authorization that applicable law requires — which we do not intend to seek.

Processors. Consumer health data is disclosed only to service providers Processing it on our behalf, on our documented instructions, under written data processing agreements that prohibit any independent use. These processors are:

Processor Function
Supabase Inc. Database hosting, authentication, application logic
Cloudflare, Inc. Storage and delivery of media assets
Google LLC
OpenAI LLC
AI generation of content in response to your prompts and selections

Affiliates. We have no affiliates with whom consumer health data is shared.

Content you choose to publish. The one exception to the “no sharing” position above is content you choose to make public. If you publish a win, gratitude, journal entry, image, or short video to the community social feed, or share content within a group, you are directing us to disclose that content — which may contain health-related information — to other users. This disclosure occurs solely at your instruction and only for content you affirmatively publish; it does not apply to anything you keep private. Publishing is not “selling” or third-party “sharing” in the advertising or commercial sense — it is disclosure to other users at your direction. You may delete published content, though other users may have already viewed or copied it before deletion. Do not publish anything you are not comfortable making public.

Legal process. We may disclose consumer health data where required by valid legal process or applicable law.

5. How Long We Keep It

Consumer health data contained in your account content is retained for the duration of your account and purged from production systems within thirty (30) days of your deletion of the content or your account. Copies in backup and archived systems are deleted or overwritten in the ordinary course of our rolling backup cycle, and in all events no later than six (6) months after your deletion request is authenticated. Deletion requests are re-applied to any backup or archived data restored to production. Full retention schedules appear in our Privacy Policy.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

(a) Know and access. Confirm whether we collect, share, or sell consumer health data concerning you; access that data; and receive a list of the third parties and affiliates with whom we have shared it (see Section 4 — presently none) and how to contact them.

(b) Withdraw consent. Withdraw any consent you have given for the collection or sharing of consumer health data, in the app Settings. Withdrawal stops future collection; it does not undo processing already completed.

(c) Delete. Have your consumer health data deleted — from our active systems, from backup and archived systems per the schedule in Section 5, and by any processor holding it, whom we will notify and instruct to delete.

7. How to Exercise Your Rights

Submit requests by: (a) the in-app controls in the app Settings; or (b) email to with the subject line “Health Data Request.”

Verification. We will authenticate your request. If your account is anonymous and not linked to an email address, authentication may require demonstrating control of the account through a signed-in session in the App; requests submitted by other means for anonymous accounts may be unverifiable.

Timing. We respond within forty-five (45) days of receipt. Where reasonably necessary, we may extend once by a further forty-five (45) days, in which case we will notify you within the initial period with the reason. Requests are free of charge up to twice per year.

8. Appeals

If we decline to act on your request, you may appeal by emailing with the subject line “Health Data Appeal.” We will respond in writing within forty-five (45) days with our reasons. If your appeal is denied, you may raise a concern or lodge a complaint with the Washington State Attorney General at https://www.atg.wa.gov/file-complaint, or with the Attorney General of your state of residence.

9. Changes to This Policy

We will post amendments here with an updated Effective Date and Version. Material changes take effect only after conspicuous in-app notice, and, where a change affects consent-based collection or any sharing of consumer health data, only after we obtain your fresh consent through the applicable in-app mechanism.
